RESUME
HIGHLIGHTS
I am currently completing accelerated Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Drexel University with graduation expected in December 2017. My undergraduate degree is in Technical and Science Communication, and I chose to focus on Science Communication for my graduate degree. My coursework has included a variety of communication, biology, and public health classes. During my time at Drexel, I have served as a copy editor and production manager at The Triangle, Drexel’s independent student newspaper. I was also the recording secretary for Gamma Sigma Sigma, a national service sorority.
In 2015, I had a six-month internship at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. As a business aide in the Research and Exploratory Development Department, I wrote and edited design and architectural documentation for a variety of robotics projects. I also coordinated peer reviews, followed up on action items, and collaborated with teams to develop documentation using model-based systems engineering.
In 2014, I had a six-month internship with Cool Kids Campaign in Towson, Maryland. Cool Kids Campaign is a small non-profit that supports children with cancer and their families. I wrote and edited for their newspaper, which is distributed to hospitals nationwide. I also helped plan, organize, market, and execute events.
In my free time, I love to travel and volunteer. This is my fourth year as a member of the planning committee for Johns Hopkins Camp Sunrise/SunSibs. I currently serve as a Leadership-In-Training co-director and activity staff member. I also have a blog, The Worst Best Thing, which documents my cancer journey and serves as a resource for other patients and families.
As a leukemia survivor, I am very interested in advances in medical treatments and technologies. This interest is evident in my work and volunteer experience as well as my choice of classes and projects at Drexel. My portfolio includes technical instructions, a consent form analysis, an article adaptation, and other technical and science writing samples.
